Chris Murphy
ATC, LAT
I’m Chris Murphy, a Certified and Licensed Athletic Trainer (ATC, LAT) with over 20 years of experience helping athletes and individuals recover, perform, and return to doing what they love. I’m a Tucson native and earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Science at Northern Arizona University.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked with athletes at every level, from youth and high school competitors to collegiate and professional athletes, including time with Pima Community College, Arizona Western College, Walden Grove High School, and the Arizona Diamondbacks organization.
But the experience that has shaped how I treat clients wasn’t professional; it was personal.
My collegiate soccer career ended after a devastating series of ACL injuries. In just nine months, I tore my ACL three times, underwent two ACL reconstructions, endured two post-surgical infections, and required multiple additional surgeries.
I know firsthand what it takes to face an injury, commit to the rehab process, recover from surgery, and keep going when setbacks happen. My journey has given me a unique perspective that shapes how I care for clients. My goal is to help every person who walks through my door feel supported, understood, and confident in the path ahead.
About
Championship Institute
Championship Institute was born during the uncertainty of the pandemic, out of a simple but powerful belief: everyone deserves access to high-level athletic care, not just professional athletes. What started as continuing essential treatment for athletes during shutdowns quickly grew into something much bigger, a place where people could come to train, heal, and pursue their physical goals together. In August 2021, my wife Kristi and I decided to go all in and build Championship Institute from the ground up.
Today, Championship Institute serves clients ranging from 8 to 96 years old. Our definition of an athlete is simple: anyone with a physical goal. Whether you’re returning to sport, recovering from an injury, managing pain, or simply trying to feel better, we treat you with the same care and precision we would give an elite competitor.
Our philosophy is rooted in the belief that God created the human body as the ultimate healing machine. When we create the right environment, through movement, treatment, challenge, and recovery, the body responds and adapts. Because every person is different, there is no one-size-fits-all formula. Healing is both science and art. At Championship Institute, we combine proven techniques and individualized care to help people recover faster, perform better, and stay healthy longer.
We believe in a simple mission:
Train. Treat. Compete.
